SXSW Rapper Causes Riot at Scoot Inn

In the midst of all the fun and craziness that was SXSW last month, Odd Future rapper/producer/director/T-shirt designer Tyler, the Creator made some waves last month when he “incited a riot”—news that is surprising to absolutely nobody.

According to reports, Tyler was headlining a show at the packed-to-capacity Scoot Inn when he allegedly told the many patient patrons lining up outside the venue to push the gates in:

“’All you guys back there that can’t get in,’ he said — then implored the mob to bust down the gates. There was a split second when it seemed like the crowd wasn’t going to do it, a possibility Tyler extinguished as he led the audience in a chant of ‘PUSH, PUSH, PUSH!”.

As the crowd outside began to follow Tyler, the Creator’s ridiculously reckless instructions, things inside the Scoot Inn quickly approached riot-level, as a person reported, “… just like that, hundreds of people came rushing through the gates. I happened to be directly in their path when they did, and it felt like being hit with a wave: I pinged off this person and that person before stabilizing myself and catching my breath. I noticed the futile attempts of the security guards…It was of little use: the handful of guards were pushed aside like twigs in a flood”.

To anyone familiar with Tyler, the Creator, this news is hardly shocking. In fact, earlier this year, the rapper (and the rest of his group) were banned from New Zealand because of “incidents at past performances in which they have incited violence”.

I repeat: Tyler, the Creator is banned from NEW ZEALAND. Like, the entire country. While the rapper’s actions were definitely irresponsible—not to mention incredibly dangerous—he was released on $25,000 bail, and is assumed to be touring the world and causing mass havoc (in places other than New Zealand, of course).

Hopefully, you do not plan on inciting any riots anytime soon, but if you find yourself in a situation that gets out of hand, do not hesitate to give us at Freedom Bail Bonds a call. Day or night, we’ll get you back to your life in a friendly and professional fashion!
