According to Tamica Lincoln, the woman who took in Johnson and whose kindheartedness backfired, the 34-year old woman’s childish act was very convincing. They both worked at the same McDonald’s when Johnson told Lincoln about the allegedly sexual abuse she had been enduring. Lincoln wanted to help the young woman. “I sympathized with her, and invited her into my home. I took her in as a child, did her hair, got her clothes and shoes…,” Lincoln told reporters.

Lincoln’s suspicion about Johnson arose once she received a phone call from a group organizer who help needy children in Longview. Johnson had tried to join the group but was denied on the basis of a background check ran by the organizer.

Soon after, Lincoln contacted the McDonald’s manager that supervised both Lincoln and Johnson. “He pulled up her file and the date of birth was 1979. The name was Charity Johnson,” Lincoln said.

After this shocking discovery, Johnson was arrested by law enforcement officers late Monday evening. As of May 16, 2015 Charity Johnson is still in the the Gregg County Jail, with bail set at $500.
