In Legal Trouble But Can’t Afford an Austin Attorney?

how to get a bail bond with no money

What is more stressful than being sued or getting arrested? It can be devastating for a family to face legal troubles but the anxiety is compounded when you don’t have the money to hire an attorney or pay for a bail bond. At Freedom Bail Bonds, we try to take as much stress out of legal situations as possible.

How to Get Out of the Travis County Jail if You Can’t Afford a Bail Bond:

  1. PR Bonds – If you have more time than money, a Personal Recognizance Bond may be an option.
  2. Collateral – If you have something of value such as a car or a house, you may be able to use it for collateral.
  3. Credit Card – yes you can put bail on a credit card. Often a bail amount is smaller than you might think for non-violent crimes.
  4. Co-Signer – If you can be trusted to show up for all of your court dates, a friend or family member can become a co-signer for your bond.

How to Get Pro Bono Legal Help in the Austin Area:

The Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas has recently announced that they are expanding their services to Bastrop and Hays Counties to serve the growing population of low income families in the Austin metro area. These free legal clinics will be available once per month in the Bastrop & San Marcos in addition to the intake clinics hosted in Travis County.

While the VLS cannot help with criminal cases or immigration issues, they will help victims of abuse, people with disabilities who are entitled to medical and financial benefits, and help prevent people from becoming homeless due to wrongful evictions and foreclosures.

If you need legal help but don’t have the money to hire an attorney, please learn more about the Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas and attend one of their intake clinics. You should never be embarrassed about asking for help, as over 70% of people who are sued represent themselves in court because they cannot afford a lawyer.

The Volunteer Legal Services organization is a non-profit that relies on volunteer attorneys who can practice law in Travis, Bastrop, and Hays Counties. Lawyers who are interested in volunteering are always in demand and can sign up to take pro bono cases.
